Laboratory Technician

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing samples to ensure correct composition for analysis. He or she may also participate in sample collection.

Responsibilities and Duties

·  Prepare samples using laboratory equipment consistent with company Standard Operating Procedures

·  Receive, unpack, inspect, sort, and label customer samples

·  Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples

·  Recognize and report any sample issues

·  Maintain a clean working environment

·  Provide excellent customer service with a professional attitude to ensure all customer expectations are met

·  Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced and changing environment

·  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·  Assist Laboratory Analysts in less complex laboratory tests and procedures

·  Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity and quality control

·  Work in a safe manner and comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements

Qualifications

·  High school diploma

·  Post-secondary education in related background preferred but not required

·  Experience in a lab or production setting preferred but not required

·  Must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner

·  Proven effective time management skills and a strong attention to detail

·  Ability to work well under pressure during demanding work periods to balance conflicting demands of high volume versus quality of results

·  Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality

·  Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed

·  Ability to communicate effectively

·  Physical strength to lift 50 lbs.
